Hmmm. I think I like it. I'd avoided trying it as I'm not partial to greeny greens, but this one appeals.

I've been waiting to find this ink, which is not yet available in my area. Your review is excellent. I had been wondering if anything could switch me away from MB's British Racing Green, but it looks like the JH Vert Empire might just do it.

On a different note, Michael R., your handwriting is absolutely fantastic!

...than you might like it. Besides Montblanc Racing Green it's the green with "the least green" in it :-)

I'm sure it will even look more faded and grey using a pen with a dry or "normal" ink flow (the ink flow on the Stipula is very wet).

Both Montblanc and Herbin are nice, subtle inks. But while the Montblanc can appear almost black with some nibs it has much more brown and olive hues while the Herbin has much more grey tones. I'm sure some will think of it being "dull" (which sometimes can look very elegant and "vintage").

... the "thank's" should go to the nib :-)

Many thanks and cheers

Thank you for a good review, Michael.

I do not often use green ink, though Herbin's "Vert Olive" is one of my all time favorite inks. I had been wondering what this color looked like, so your review really helped. This might be a green I can warm up to. I am going to have to try some of this color as well as MB's "Racing Green" to see if I can use them effectively.

Anyone know where this is in stock? So far I've tried Pear Tree, Pendemonium, and Art Brown and none of them have received it yet.

I just spoke to the folks at J. Herbin's US Distributor, who informed me that they have not yet received their shipment, although they have ordered it. They were unable to tell me exactly (or even approximately) when it will be arriving. I hope soon!

This is quite pretty. I've been looking for a green to try, and am currently on a "subtlety" kick, rebelling against way too many oversaturated inks... This really fits the bill.

I hope it arrives soon smile.gif

Anyone yet seen this "in the wild"?
I keep checking the usual suspects, and haven't found a bottle to be purchased.

I got a bottle of Vert Empire recently and I really like it.

It is a serious green, which could be used in contexts in which a brighter green would be too frivolous.

It is certainly my favorite green at the moment and may remain so.

Thank you for reviewing this beautiful color.

Where did you buy it? I tried several places in Holland but failed.

Yes Pen and Co ship worldwide at quite reasonable inclusive cost.

I cannot see any significant green in this, on my screen, whereas I can with the other three....I'm afraid it just looks to me, as suspected, a rather dull grey-black.

I like Herbin inks and have some, but this one is not for me.

I bought mine from inkflow.com in the US. Shipping was not the fastest, but that might have been due to the hurricane (They shipped from San Antonio Texas).
