Stopped at Hobby Lobby on the way home from work and saw this butterfly fabric on clearance. The muse hit, and while watching re-runs tonight I stitched a 3-pen wrap. (Pictures below) If any are interested, I can write up the directions and post them as well. It took about a couple of hours due to the cat wanting to be in the center of things.

Very nice!

Please do share your directions! I was attempting this a week ago and my results were most unimpressive. But I'm ready to take another crack at it.

Neat! Thanks!

Very nice. I have just shown the other half and she is going to make me one to my pattern.

Well, if I can't get hold of a Piquadro case in the UK this will have to be an alternative!

Very nice! Thank you for the instructions. Just checking - the muslin lining isn't a lining that goes against the pens, right, it lies between the other fabrics to give the wrap more body?

I'm also thinking that it would be possible to add a fastener - velcro or maybe a strap to tuck the top flap in.

Thanks for the inspiration - there was an earlier thread on knitting and felting a pen case but I have made no progress on that project either. This one seems a little more do-able for me right now, time wise.

Yes, the lining is to add more body. Primarily because the fabric I chose was a thin cotton. I've been thinking about fasteners - Velcro or a tie. I haven't decided. Which do you think would look better?

I also need to learn how to stitch in piping. I think it would give a much more finished look.

Believe it or not piping is pretty easy with the correct foot. I cheat and use a zipper foot.

Hi,

This is the one I made before.

I've modified it very slightly since, and I'll post pictures of that later.

The third pen from the right is now gone. all the pens to the left if it have been shifted to the right one step, and there are now two Aurora Idea pens filling the slots to the left of the Aurora 888C, One of the pencils is now gone, and the two Pilot Dr. Grip pencils (far left) are now in a precisely fitting slot. smile.gif

Very nice indeed!

Hi,

It was one of those large microfiber dustcloths that I got from tryphon.it. biggrin.gif My mom likes it. It's really nice and thick. I'm working on another case of some sort made of that same kind of dustcloth.

Oh, and if you intend to use ribbons, when you cut the ends, I recommend using some sharp Gingher scissors. I like using the Gingher 4-inch knife edge sewing scissors for that. Then use Fray Check on the ends to keep it from unraveling.

Great project!

I have added it to the list in our Paper & Pen Paraphernalia "DIY / How-to Guides and Resources" thread! smile.gif

Thank you very much for the contribution! smile.gif
