I know this has been asked and answered. . . but then, there is nothing new under the sun!
Are the nib units from new VPs compatible with the old style faceted VPs?

If it is one generation older faceted one, yes. See Richard's VP nib page.

I am using a 'new' VP unit in a faceted ~1973 pen right now.

Richard says:
"If your pen is a faceted Namiki Vanishing Point with a squeeze converter (like the burgundy pen above), you should use the pen’s squeeze converter with your new nib. Piston converters do not fit properly in these older pens. The converter is the right length, but its metal collar stops against the brass collar inside the barrel’s back end. This interference prevents the nib unit from retracting completely, and the pen will dry out when not in use."As I do not have both pens in hand, this is confusing. I have the new style - is this converter removable from the nib unit? It seems to be pretty tight.

They usually are tight, but yes it will come out. If you have trouble just give them a light twist while pulling.

OK, I have the two nib and converter units side-by-side. Not that I doubted Richard; I just did not understand.
Of course, he is totally correct!
After getting my converter loose, and examining its ink volume, I can say pretty surely that I will be using carts and syringes with this pen!
