wish the pen were my Pilot-Namiki Capless / Vanishing Point instead of my Lamy Safari Fine.
What kind of commonly available paint or other coating would stay on the VP's internal unit for many years of everyday use and also discourage Lux Blue's creeping action? The Safari is the only pen for me for Lux Blue because the nib is coated with something that isn't metallic, and there's almost no other metal that the ink touches. I like my Safari pens very much, and I like the color of Lux Blue, but if only I could put the convenience of the VP together with the strength of Lux Blue, . . . .

Me too. The word "luxury" in the name is part of what motivated me to buy it. But this ink is no better than other bulletproof blue inks that Noodler's makes (e.g. Upper Ganges Blue), although it's much more expensive as it comes in the tiny bottle for the same price as a larger bottle of other inks.

Me, three.
Based on the color of the ink in the bottle, it looked perfect - intense, vivid and rich - very much like Winsor & Newton's "French Ultramarine" watercolor pigment. But I have found that Luxury Blue changes to a much different color when on the paper - more of drab denim that's the result of hundreds of washings. And it doesn't matter if I agitate the bottle prior to using or not.
One thing I have noticed with LB is that the nib can really change the color on it. I've seen a few cases where the nib choice makes the color approach that of when it is in the bottle, but LB certainly doesn't do that with any of the italic nibs or papers that I use.
Still, I do keep it on hand from signing checks and other important documents. I just wish the color matched my expectations of what Luxury Blue should be. And that the cost was more in line with what I got...

BORED. A yawn color. So many Noodlers colors are sensational and this one was dull. So, I gave it away to someone who thought different and she is enjoying it immensely.

You speak for many of us. We want an ink that is a deep rich blue color, fadeproof, waterproof, smearproof, fast-drying, and feather-free. If such an ink were to appear on the market, it would immediately become a best seller. However, my specifications probably exceed the state of ink technology....

a little alarmed, given the caking action that happened to it in my antique inkwell.
I'm a Noodler's nut...I've evangelized the product up and down...I also had high expectations for LB. This very morning I opened my antique inkwell (close-fitting, but not screw, top) and discovered that the product, which I hadn't used in a month or so, had evaporated or something. A thick cake of concentrated blue was stuck to the bottom of the inkwell, under a layer of liquid ink. Managed to clean it off, although a very very faint ghostlike blue stain appeared on the interior of the sink, defying my expectation. (Obviously, the sink is not cellulose.) Some Issues my Parker had been having with the color now seemed more understandable. (Lots of nib creep, occasionally gummy or sticky nib, and staining around the seals of the pen, which hadn't happened with other inks.) This one needs a bit of work on flow...it may not behave well in some pens, even more than normal pen variation might lead you to expect...and while I didn't notice the washed-out quality other posters mention, it could yet be bluer.
I want Ottoman Azure that's bulletproof. Or a reliable source of Upper Ganges blue. This is the biggest single hole in the Noodler's lineup, in my opinion.
Also like what I've seen of Manhattan Blue, but a single bottle is $10 to ship from Art Brown, making it a rather less attractive proposition.

That makes two of us on all counts - I'm wanting both badly but, can't find UGB and am not spending $10 for shipping darn near anything. So, in the cold I'll sit with my PR DC SS and Electric blues... Until the FPN blue makes its much anticipated world wide debut!!

…in a state of mixed feelings: It has kind of vintage look that grows on you, but it is not bright blue popping up from paper. There are no purple, violet, green or turquoise or other non-blue undertones, but it has some chalkiness in its texture. But Luxury Blue is definitely better than Legal Blue. Legal Blue leans towards green or turquoise. I haven’t tried Upper Ganges Blue, yet.
The most beautiful blue inks I have seen by far are Waterman Florida Blue and Sheaffer Skrip Blue (Made in Slovenia). I really hope Noodler’s Ink will release some bullet-proof blue ink with bright true blue shade and without all that chalkiness we have seen in other bullet-proof inks.

But I'm waiting to see a review of Noodler's new Baystate Blue. It looks like a bright Private Reserve-like blue, except waterproof.
