Hello All!

I've been lurking for a while so I thought I'd say hello! I also have a question or two so please bear with me ;-)

I'm a long-time Waterman user and am considering moving up to a Sailor Pro Gear, but I've been having problems sorting out a few
details. I'm currently using an "F" nib, and am wondering what Sailor nib would be closest: MF? M?

Also, if I put out for a Togi nib - which I understand are much broader 'cause of how wet they write - is it even possible to get a
nib close to a Waterman "F"? My current understanding is no, but everyone's input on this would be appreciated.

I was consulting cyberpens about some of these issues but I haven't gotten a response from them since before Christmas so I'm not sure
what is going on. I had heard good things about them in here.

Finally, I'm going to be in San Francisco in a couple weeks; can anyone recommend a brick & mortar retailer for Sailor pens up there? I'd like
to give an actual pen a test drive before I make a final decision.

Thanks for reading!

Hi Lillian and welcome to FPN! I don't know the answers to the questions you ask but I do know that I'd like to say hello! smile.gif

Welcome Lillian. I, like Playpen, don't know the answers to your questions either, but I guarantee that more than a few folks on this forum DO. A good place to post those questions might be the "Writing Instruments" forum...under Gerneral Topics.
Nice to have you aboard and I hope you enjoy your time here.

Cheers

Hi Lillian -
I have three Sailor pens - all EF points, all of which I purchased on-line from Classic Fountain Pens. They're located in LA - too bad it's not San Francisco rolleyes.gif Anyhow, in case you're not familiar with them, they have a website that has a lot of information - shows models of pens, nib comparisons, and samples of writing. I really like the Sailor pens.

From what I see on that site, the Togi nib is somewhat broad, except for the special Saibi Togi nib which is an extra-extra-fine. That one is so fine that it comes with a special accessory to get paper threads out of the point. I had been considering it, but I also like a pen that writes very smoothly - so, I've held off.

I've been to all the pen stores I know about in the bay area and don't specifically recall Sailor in any of them, but you'd probably have the best luck with one of the Japanese stationers:

Kinokuniya is in SF: 415-567-8901
MaiDo in SF: 415-227-4338
MaiDo in San Jose: 408-213-1985

Welcome to FPN lillian!
I know kudzu went shopping there recently, specifically to test drive pens,. She may be able to help, too.
