Is there a place on this list that explains how to use the Friends function? I can't find it.

I use it to keep track of interesting users, whose posts I might want to peruse again at a later date. Other than that, as a sort of bookmark, I don't think they do anything on this board.

So you can be "friends" with someone and they won't know it? Is this like the IGNORE function?

I consider anyone not actively trying to kill me my friend.

"friends" in FPN, as I understand it, is some kind of bookmark for people, you want to keep contact with through their topics and posts because they are of special interest for you.
The "friends" I bookmarked are Germans (hard to find in Germany... ) or nice people I want to know about.

When I want to add "friends" I go to the button "members" on top. I search for the nickname and there is a point "add as friends" - click and done

FRIENDS are of the most important things in life. Whereever you can get them, even if it's in FPN, go for it

No, it is not like the ignore function.

Whenever you add someone to your friends list, the person added receives a message that you did.
