I suspect that the inlaid arrow on a Parker 61 might have been superglued in place and it's just a tad out of whack...is there any possibility of damage to the shell if I brush a little acetone on there to see if I can remove and reinstall the inlay? For the record, this is NOT a pen I received from anyone on this board, etc.

Acetone dissolves many plastics. Careful.

Just a thought. Some? Most? super glues will eventually give up in a long water soak. You also might consider "violating" a rule of thumb-----don't immerse a P 61 hood in water in an ultrasonic cleaner for long periods of time as the adhesive holding the arrow will let go--- here that's exactly what you want to do.

That would be my approach, soak it and give it a shot in the ultrasonic if you have one. Should make it let go eventually. I would stay away from that hood with acetone, it might damage it.

Thanks, all. My P61 gets a ultrasonic bath and a long soak.

Definitely don't use acetone on a P61 shell. As far as I can tell it's a polystyrene based plastic, which is very soluble in acetone.

Richard.
