My Dad just gave me my first pen as a present for my 30th b-day. I since then have become quite addicted! I don't even know that much about my pen, other than it is a Waterman and I believe has a medium nib. I love it though and have also now become quite interested in inks, paper, and have started practicing calligraphy with dip pens. Hopefully I can replace some of the dip pens with a flexible nib fountain pen sometime soon. If only I could have got addicted to something a little less spendy!
Other than pens, I also am married and have 4 children. 2 Boys and 2 girls. I've been a father almost 8 years now. It's a pretty great job if you can get it!
I look forward to participating on the forum, all though, in the beginning I will probably just be reading and not posting much, due to the limited scope of my knowledge on the subject.

Hi Dan,

Welcome to FPN!

Nice looking bunch of kids there!

Enjoy your pen passion. Don't be afraid to post. We're a generally friendly bunch, and usually won't bite wink.gif

Dip pens are a world unto themselves. It's hard (but not impossible) to replicate the hairlines and wet noodle flexibility of dip pen nibs with a fountain pen. If you're serious about Copperplate or Engrossers Script, an oblique holder and flex nib are the only way to fly.

Cheers,
Tom

Welcome. If you love writing, then it must be with a FP! I got similarly drawn into FPs a few years ago through a gift by a relative. Since then I have slowly got into more pens, inks, etc.
