I just don't use my italic and stub nibs that much anymore.

I got this pen last month from a fellow pen enthusiast. I have used the medium italic for a few pieces of correspondence and a bit of jotting, but I would rather have a fine nib so I can use the pen for daily writing tasks.

The nib is the traditional Aurora 14k monotone gold (not rhodium) factory medium italic nib. Not a single problem or issue with the way it performs, I would just rather have a fine.

So, if you have been looking for a specialty nib for your Optima or 88 (I think the Talentum also uses the same nib), here is a great opportunity to get one without the specialty nib premium that Aurora charges for a nib exchange.

We would swap the entire section (nib, feed, collar) that unscrews from the barrel, not just the nib itself.

I am bringing this back to the top to see if anyone who had not read it previously may be interested in trading.

Trade withdrawn. I sent the nib to Kenro this morning for exchange.

MAN!!!!!!!!! DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sitting one two perfect fines and wanted to trade one to try an italic... sheesh,

Sorry I missed this one Doug... I'm really disappointed I didn't catch it in time... Anyway, good luck with the new one. Do you mind if I ask you what it is you didn't like about the italic?

I knew this would happen. I listed this nib for trade on two boards, even sent a few PMs and emails to folks to see if they were interested in trading. I had a hunch that as soon as I sent it away someone would want it.

Anyhow, I just this morning saw your message Dave. Kenro Industries is closed on Saturday, but I left a voice mail asking if they could return the italic nib without exchanging it, since I had someone who wanted to try it. If I hear back from them that they are willing to do so, I will let you know. I would much rather we do the swap, since it would save both of us the $20 shipping/handling fee at Kenro.

The reason I got the italic nib in the first place was because it was on a blue Optima that I wanted. I bought the pen figuring I could easily swap it with someone here or on Pentrace. I have moved away from stubs and italics, having sold or traded almost all of them in the past couple of years. I only rarely used them in correspondence, not for regular daily writing. I hated to see such a lovely pen sitting unused, so that is why I wanted to get a fine nib.

Cool deal Doug, let me know how it goes. I hope it does work out for us (as this would be absolutely perfect for me). I'll be happy to split the shipping cost with you for going to the trouble of getting it back.

I have two fines and two mediums, so if you change your mind and prefer a medium, I have that too. If you haven't used an Aurora fine before, they can feel a tad on the scratchy side (every single one of them are this way), I like the feedback from the paper but the feel of an Aurora fine can be a surprise. I mention the mediums because they're quite smooth out of the box if you'd rather go that route.

Drop me a note whenever, these aren't going anywhere.

After an interesting journey to Long Island and back, the italic nib assembly has been traded to Dave for his fine.
