Full Version: Changing Sonnet nibs

The nib on the Sonnet can be easily changed. I have more Sonnet nibs than pens and I change them now and again. The nib comes in a plastic tube that doubles as a tool for screwing out and in the nibs. A kind of spanner or wrench if you will.
My question is: how much torque should one use when putting in a nib? Is it sufficient just to screw it in with a gentle hand until it stops (or bottoms) or should an extra amount of torque be a applied to lock it in place?

My opinion is to screw the nib in only with fingers, gently. The tube/tool can help only to screw it out, if it won't come out (always using fingers). If you change nib often maybe there's no reason to use it.

Thanks guys

I see that we agree. The gentle human touch is all that's required

I was told by Parker that it is no good to change Nib to the same section too "often" as it may cause leak.
Consider a few section to few Nib size. (IMHO)

Yes, that certainly sounds reasonable. The threads on the feed are probably not designed for too much use. Does anyone out there know if and where one can obtain Parker Sonnet sections? As far as I know, based upon my own limited experience and purchases, Sonnet nibs are only available as nib and feed. Not like for the Duofold. Duofold sections complete with nib and feed are available in various trims (gold, silver etc).

Me too, I was looking to find Sonnet nibs fitted with the section. I was wondering if I could then convert a rollerball to an FP.
