So far, the circulating journal project is moving along.
Journal #1 is currently in Michigan, and will be on its way to New York next.
Journal #2 is en route to Australia.
Journal #3 will be heading to Hawaii shortly.
Journal #4 is going to make its way to Virginia.
I will try to keep you all posted as to how it going.
Journalers: if you've received or sent out a journal, feel free to post here to let us know.

Are any of these pages scanned so that we can see some of the thoughts and goings on's of the authors? I'd love to see (or participate - Raleigh NC USA)
Is there a specific ink that everyone is using, or is the natural variation part of the fun?

If I were to make a journal and send it out, to whom would I send it? Would it come back to me when it was all filled up?
If I made one I would probably put 3 or 4 different kinds of papers in it for people to try out with a colophon in back identifying them so they would know on what they were writing.
So, if anybody can get one started please give instructions. I am in!
thanks!

I think how BklynWriter put this round together is here:
http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...showtopic=47254I know there was another, original round of these things, but some folks didn't keep it going or some got lost, and that set stopped for the most part.
If there's still an upcoming round, I'd enjoy getting in on it, as well.

A number of the older ones have been scanned after making their full rounds.
http://anes.homelinux.com/cj/(This is the last link I had, though it doesn't appear to be up at the moment.)
Yes, generally they would come back to you (the originator) when full. As to who to send it to... you pick some interested people and make a list.

Hello Everyone!
I've been busy and then under the weather, so I've neglected my duties here. I have received Journal #1 and will be sending it back out shortly.
I have names and addresses for Journal #4, which will be going out this week, and there's still room for Journals #5 and 6.
I have a scanner, and scanning the pages will not be a problem. I'm going to take some time to do that this weekend.
I WILL NOT SCAN ANY PERSONAL INFO. If you don't want your pages scanned for whatever reason, please let me know. I will also try my hand at setting up a (simple) website to view the pages.
Please PM me with your name and address if you wish to be a participant--first come, first serve!
This has been really enjoyable. I look forward to my mailbox at the end of the day.
Thanks for your cooperation and participation.

http://anes.homelinux.com/cj/I'm currently having a look at those scans and I think they are a great possibility to compare different ink colors and nib sizes.
Does anyone know the size of the notebooks used? I would like to know how far the lines are apart. That would be really helpful.

I'm participating in two; one from melnicki and one from brklynwrter and melnicki's doesn't use lines, and brklynwrter does. If you have a choice, I'm thinking no lines is better than lines because it allows participants to use their own natural handwriting. The books are small enough to not need the lines. But that's just me, and I don't usually use lines. Maybe that's a poll question?

Sorry, maybe my question wasn't clear enough. I wanted to say that I'm comparing the different ink colors and nibs that the authors used in 2006 by just looking at the scans, for example
this one.
My problem is that I don't know which size these notebooks have. If I knew the distance between the lines it would be much easier to form an opinion about the nib widths.

That's a tongue-twister! Now I'm curious so next time I'm in the book store I'll notice how they label the books about Louisiana.

I think it may be because you are so far away from most of us and we're afraid of the costs and difficulties of international delivery. My quick calculation gives a 2 ounce journal at only $1.80 from U.S. to India, which is not bad at all. Or you could try a journal that travels just within India. I'm going to start a traveling journal when I have the time (months away), and I'll check back with you then to see if you're still interested. Might be interesting to have an international journal if folks are willing.

I'm willing to participate in an international traveling journal, Doug. Keep me in the back of your mind as a possible participant. It will take longer to make each leg, but if we stay on top of it, it should be fun and ok. The costs don't concern me too much.
