Most of you have probably misplaced a pen at some point, so I'm sure you can identify.
I've only been in the FP game for about a year and bought my first "nice" pen - a Pel m605 (blue) - back in January 2007. I got a good deal on it at Fahrney's but for a newbie, it was a bit of an investment.
Through a little trial and error, I finally matched my 605 with a very nice stub (LF oblique) nib from Richard Binder. That pen never left my shirt pocket, and, for me, it wrote pretty close to perfectly. The last thing I can remember writing with it was an anniversary card for my wife on June 13. But I haven't seen the pen since....and I've looked everywhere.
Think I'm ready to give up and try to replace it (with a different pen, though, in case I stumble across it someday).
Okay, that's my vent!

OUCH!!

Don't give up, though... pens can turn up, unexpectedly, in the oddest places.

Definitely don't give up hope. I lost an MB144 about 8-10 years ago, and then found it about a year ago when I moved the computer desk away from the corner. After a quick rinse and new cartridge, it was in good shape.

Thanks for the encouragement, guys.
My only concern is that I'm fearful that it might have been stolen from my desk at work by the after-hours cleaning crew. It's likely that, in a rush, I left the office and forgot to grab it from my desk.
Oh well, I'll hope for the best.

Also check pants or shirt pockets, as well as jacket pockets.

Check behind (yes, behind) your desk drawers. That's where I found the first fountain pen that I purchased back when I was 17...a Rotring 600 EF. The jubilation was rather outrageous when I found it, as I'd imagine yours will be when you find your Pelikan. Best of luck!

You have my sympathies. Unfortunately, I can relate.
I have a number of pens that are 'still hiding' from my recent move from San Diego to San Jose. I am not ready to call them lost. They were all in one bundle and include a M1000 (custom Burton binde,) Bexley Americana, Bexley Scheherezade, Bexley Prometheus (jungle green LE) and a Bexley 'Historically Black Colleges' LE. I try not to think about them too often, to avoid feeling ill about the potential loss.
Best regards, greg

Ouch! I hope it turns up. I "lost" a WM Phileas for several months. I can't recall the circumstances now but when I found it I do recall feeling very silly. One of those moments where you wonder what the heck you were thinking when you put it there.
OTOH, a good excuse to buy a new Pelikan.
I don't go out in the real world much and haven't had occasion to actually lose a pen but it is a bit of a phobia for me. I'm very "clingy" with my pens. I used to take my best pens with me in my purse because if they're with me, no way they're going to get away, right? I know, dumb logic. I had a weird fear that someone would break into our house and the only thing they'd take would be my precious birdies.
Keep us updated. I'm a sucker for "lost and found pen" stories - we've had a few here. People have found their pens under their car seats, in glove compartments, in the back yard after the snow melted, etc.

I have some that are 'still hiding' from my move four blocks last year. Love that phrasing.

My worst was when a loop of yarn from my sweater grabbed the clip of my Vanishing Point and pulled it out of my shirt pocket when I took the sweater off. All I could tell that night was that I'd used the pen to order sushi at the restaurant that evening and it wasn't in my pocket when I undressed that night. I was sure it was at the restaurant. I called them the next day. I visited them the day after that. I spoke with our waitress. I spoke with the manager. I offered rewards. I was devastated because the pen had been a Father's Day present from my wife and our daughter. Then, I found the pen a couple of weeks later while sorting laundry.
good luck,
Bill

something similar just happened with my M600; my rain jacket has a mesh lining and it caught on the Pelikan beak-clip --- could not find it for hours and then found it when I put my jacket back on !!
whew !!
Birdy -- hope you find it. Just in case, Pear Tree and Pam Braun have the 605s at nice prices now.

My 605 has returned!
I've continued to look for this pen periodically for the past 9 months. Finally, this morning, it practically jumped into my lap.
I was in a co-worker's office on a conference call. He was at his desk and I was sitting in a leather wingback chair across the room. I was shuffling through a file when I just happen to catch something shiny out of the corner of my eye. I look over and there is a shiny blue pen wedged down in the cushion of his chair. "Hey, that's my pen!" I know I looked like an idiot with the big dumb grin on my face as he continued to chat away on the phone. It must have slid out of my pants pocket last June and nestled itself down in the side of the chair.
The nib is getting a soak and the rinsed out barrel and cap are in my shirt pocket.

Birdy - that's great. Your co-worker is not very observant, eh? What an odd place for it to turn up. Well, congrats.
I have 6 pens gone missing over time ... if you come home, all is forgiven, guys.

Under the car seat is where one of my Pelikan 400 chooses to hide form me, too! But only for some days!

Congratulations! I love happy pen endings.
I lost 3 pens almost a year ago (dropped my 3-pen pouch while on a tour of a historical hotel). Retraced my steps, made a ton of calls, nothing. One of the pens was my *favorite* writer, a red Pel 400. All these months later, I've finally ordered a new one (which will probably arrive this next week), and I can't wait to use it.

I lost my Sheaffer student pen for a few months - just a five dollar thing, but attached to it because it was my first. I looked everywhere, and then one day I found it in a pocket of my backpack. It's a great feeling! I'm glad to hear that you are reunited with yours as well.
I have to admit (while my Sheaffer can't see me writing this

) that I was a tiny bit disappointed, as well, when I found it. See, I had decided that I'd have to get a nice Lamy Safari or Al-Star to replace it as my lab pen. But I can hardly justify that now. Sigh. Will have to find another decent excuse. And no, I don't need help with that!

Congratulations on the happy reunion! I have recently misplaced a Lepine mini Murano that was a gift. I decided to put it in its case and carry it somewhere, and now it's missing. I didn't know how much it cost, and now I feel guilty so I ordered a new one. I suspect it will turn up shortly after the new one arrives!
My lost-and-found story goes like this: my mother in law bought me an inexpensive pen/pencil set for Christmas a few years ago (if she knew what I can spend on one pen she would be both appalled and astonished!). A few months later I had the pen at a conference in another state, and promptly lost it. I looked everywhere for it and even asked the hotel lost and found; no luck. In a staff meeting a week later, I was mid-sentence when I noticed that the woman across from me was writing with MY PEN! No one else could understand my excitement when I insisted on having it back; she had found it in my conference room the next hour, thought it was nice, and took it without knowing it belonged to her department chair! I bought her a replacement set as a thank you. Here's the truly funny part - I don't know where that pen is right now and hadn't thought about it until I started writing this reply!

I think reading this thread is good luck. Last night I opened a drawer and saw a velveteen case I kinda-sorta remembered. Wondered what was in it. So I opened it...and there was a lovely Japanese pen I thought I'd lost a long time ago.
