I'm sure some of you have noticed that Rivera Pens' website has been offline for a while. They had by far and long the best history page for VP pens out there. I pulled an archive page of their date timeline table to keep it available for people to refer to in case they don't bring their site back (
http://www.penpedia.com/w/index.php?title=Vanishing_Point).
But, I don't want the data to get stale in case their site never comes back. I was wondering if anyone had any release date information for 2007 that we can add to the table. If you do know any 2007 release information, you are welcome to add it yourself (hooray for wikis!), or post it here, or send it to me and I'll add it in.
Thanks all you smart people!

2007 had the bright orange VP, but I don't know when it was released. I only know I got one of the last of them found in the wild.
One detail I remembered later: it was a limited edition of 2007 pens.

I do recall that. Does anyone remember how many of them were released? Was it 1500?

I got the last of the Orange LE VPs from World Lux. It wasn't on their web site, but they manually checked back stock and they had ONE left. I love it. It's a little thicker than the standard VP I have and writes beautifully.
I wonder if they'll have a LE for 2008?

Nevermind, there were 2007 of them (go figure!).

There was that gorgeous marbled grey Sesenta (I think it was called?). An LE for a Japanese store, I think. They also made/make a number of marbled colors but I haven't seen much about them.

A bit late on the start here. First post.
There are 2007 of them all numbered on the barrel. If I understand it, 2007 is the first year they did this. I have #631. Is there a vintage pen registry someplace? With other items I collect there are places to register you numbered items.

Can anyone confirm that the Sesenta was a 2007 pen (month?), with a 400 unit release in brown, green, and red (400 for all colors or each?).

I can't do forum search right now, but I think there might have been blue marble, too. I also thought one color was made more than others. I think I posted about it somewhere.
Edit: I can't copy and paste the link, but search writing instrument forum with Sesenta. The oldest thread started by rroossinck has the info. The colors are grey, blue, and red.

I found your post and was able to extract better info, thanks a lot. Though I don't think there were grey or blue pens, everything I see points to brown, red, and green. The green looks sort of blue though.

Red and
Green Sesenta. Suposedly, it was limited to 100 each. Although I'm not a fan of green, the red looks pretty good. I read somewhere that the red katsuri was the limited edition of the katsuri design, Hopefully someone can confirm this for me.

The total number of the Orange VP was 2007.

I have it on pretty good authority that there will be a 2008 Limited Edition release. Without spilling the beans too much, I do believe that this one will be in a rather "automotively significant" color.

The red Carbonesque (Kasuri) was sold as LE in the U.S but not in Japan.

Is the red carbonesque actual kasuri, or is it just printed to look like it?

I've never seen a red one in person, but they all have some texture. None of them are real "kasuri" - kasuri is a type of fabric. I think I have posts about them somewhere, too (Sorry it is really hard to copy and paste with iPod).

Gotcha, thanks a lot, you've been a great help. I've managed to put together a nice section on the Limited edition pens for the VPs thanks to everyone's input.

Just to add to what Taki notes, the red carbonesque is like the other two--slightly raised silver kasuri pattern on the main color (red in this case). I grabbed one when I saw it in a Dept store in Tokyo, but started seeing them all over the place there soon after I bought mine. For more information on kasuri (than Taki's iPod can handle!), you might click here:

OK, I was not crazy.
This page shows gray, blue and red. (
google translation) I don't know what the official translation supposed to be, but they call gray, blue, and red. It might be due to differences in color perceptions/definitions. Often green are called blue in Japan. Traffic lights are "blue", and green leafy vegetables are "blue vegetables" in Japan
Unfortunately, it appears that Carmen lost her domain... some domain "scalper, squatter, hostage taker" company now owns it. I wrote to Carmen and never got a reply since the website vanished... don't know what's going on.
Meanwhile, you can update your Wiki section on VP's with the archive link:

Hey, that's great! Thanks posting this, Laura. Do you know when Carmen rebuilt her website? I see in her intro that she closed the old one to focus on just the VP/Capless pens. But it seems a shame that she shed the old domain name. The WhoIs shows it being owned by someone else... Anyway, it's good to see the history is being continued.
