Purchased a Rhodia meeting book over the week to use in detailing a project at the office. The way my various pens react to it is amazing. My Nakaya Piccolo with a fine nib which normally scratches on most papers writes a fine, smooth dry line, excellent! My Montblanc 145 with an extra fine nib and 146 with a fine nib write a lot wetter and broader. The Extra Fine which is a bit of a scratchy writer writes smoother but suddenly a lot wetter than normal. My Waterman Le Man 200 with Extra Fine nib writes the same fine, smooth dry line as on other paper. I would have never thought that the change in paper would have such a dramatic effect on a pen writes.

I will tuck this info away for future reference, but curses, I now have Dave Brubeck stuck in my head, thanks! (I get severe earworm. At least it dislodged something else . . .)

Paper is the most important thing you can invest in to improve the writing experience - ink makes a difference, but not to the extent that fine paper does!
