Hi,

I've just run across this forum, and am actually a novice when it comes to pens. Though I got my first fountain pen (a Waterman Phileas) as a gift from my mom about 10 years ago I just aquired my second pen about 4 months ago, and my collection has exploded into nearly 50 pens since. So far I have mostly vintage pens, with a couple of new Heros and a new Retro 51 Double 8.

I'm currently in Idaho, though I'm not from Idaho and won't be here for more than a year or so longer. I'm originally from Illinois, but Uncle Sam decided the Air Force needed me here in Idaho, so that's where I am, and enjoying it, until he sends me somewhere else.

Hi Tom,

Let me be the first to welcome you to FPN! biggrin.gif

Sounds like you have a really good start on a (large) pen collection there! What type of vintage pens do you like? I was thinking of getting a Retro 51 Double 8 but when I tried it in the store, it was a bit too big for my hands. Still, a lovely pen.... smile.gif

Nice to have you here; hope you enjoy perusing the site!

P.S. I had no idea the Phileas model was from the 1990s! For some reason I thought they came out this century. They certainly are a great starter pen!

50 pens in four months! Wow. Jump inwith both feet will ya.

Well, you've come to the right place. Welcome.

Thanks to you for your service as well. My sister is a Staff Seargent in Washington D.C.

Greetings Tom,

That's as rapid an accumulation in 4 months as I've heard of. ohmy.gif

Hard to say what draws folk into the interest. I can't pinpoint my own genesis, let alone others. The sure thing is that you'll enjoy it here and get a lot of ideas to increase that accumulation rate even faster. laugh.gif

Maybe The AF will decide to send you here to straighten out whatever needs straightening out. I live very near Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson.

Pull up a chair, when convenient, and make yourself at home.

Welcome, Tom. I'm mightily impressed by the speed with which you've acquired 50 pens. Keep going!
