I have a Sheaffer Aspen Fountain pen purchased in December of 1999. It has a fine nib and is in mint condition. Can anyone tell me what this pen would be worth as I may be interested in selling it? I never use it and may sell it to purchase another Conway Stewart.

Thanks,

It is worth what someone is willing to pay you for it. If I offer you $5 for it, and nobody else offers more, then it is worth $5.00. I'm sure someone will offer more than $5.00!

Alternative methodes of value evaluation include:
  1. Asking a panel of experts
  2. Finding similar pens with recent sales history
  3. Conducting an auction
  4. Put it on the market for a rediculously high price and then lowering it step by step until it sells.
There are also objective issues that affect value including condition, scarcity, and hype. I'd also suggest including a photo as not every potential customer is familiar with the Aspen or willing to research it elsewhere on line.

Good luck with your sale.

I'd say around $100, maybe more. Fairly hard to find color, and these modern Balances are getting more and more popular.

I might be wrong, but to find one for $100 would be a great deal! These are discontinued, and the Aspen color is, for some reason, more difficult to get than the likes of Cobalt Blue and Green. They have sold on the Bay for over $200.
