So I've had my Aurora Talentum Finesse Rollerball for about a week now and like I said in my other post, it really is a beauty.
The pen cap of Finesse version of the Aurora snaps on and off (as opposed to the regular Talentum, in which you unscrew to get the cap off, much like the barrel). I was curious and looked closely inside the cap. I can't tell if glue is used inside or not. Do you guys know how durable such pen caps are? I use pens in such a way that subconsciouly I uncap and put the cap back on. If this causes more wear and tear than I realize, I will try not to do that often.
Thanks.

There have been a few posts recently about click-on pen caps loosening with use. The recent post entitled "Oy, My Poor Safari"
http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...showtopic=49173 mentions it too.
So far I've had trouble with only one of my pens, a Platinum 15000 or something (can't remember the model number), which has a white plastic insert inside the cap - this insert is what actually snaps onto the body section. At first I thought the insert had come unglued, but it has actually torn off from the uppermost part. Since the pen was only used about 5 times, with the cap on and off maybe 30 times at the most, it's pretty irritating, but I have to put it down to faulty workmanship, not wear and tear.

I see. Thanks. As a follow up question. How many of you put the cap on the pen when writing? Another pen I have had a clear ring mark around it after a few years. Is this something that will happen to Resin made pens (as is the case with my Talentum).
THanks

The only serious problem I've ever had with durability was with Rotring pens. On one, the (spring loaded) clip stopped working properly and then on another, the plastic insert came out of the metal top because of faulty glue. The first one was replaced under warranty, however. The plastic insert issue happened on a pretty cheap Rotring and it wasn't worth the shipping costs and hassle to fix it at the factory. As for the ring mark, I have a Talentum rollerball and there is a bit of a ring on the back of the barrel where the cap posts. It doesn't bother me. I think I may try polishing it away at some point though. Hope this helps.

Posting will eventually mark up any pen but the beauty of plastic (AKA resin, precious resin or anything else that market tests well) is that you can polish it easily with plastic polish such as Novus. I've bought some pens used at a nice discount and made them look new with about 5 minutes of effort.
