Any one know of someone who will make a custom portfolio? I have 2 frank coveys that I don't really like, I got my wife 2 Levengers for Christmas, I love the leather, but I need pen and PDA storage, not business cards and such.
Wilson leathers aren't of a good enough quality.
Any thoughts

" ANY thoughts " ?

Have you considered making it yourself ? You could be in control of everything about it.

that is a thought, and ?I have seen raw(?) sheets of leather on the internet, but how would you stitch it together

I am googling already

There are many ways of attaching the leather...You did not say where you are located... which can make a difference...
I will guide you through whatever you want to attempt...

Since you used the word ' raw' I should mention that you are wanting one of two types of leather.... either ' finished' or ' vegetable tanned'. The finished leather is available in lots and lots of combinations of type of animal it came off of , color, thickness, and type of applied finish it has...
My suggestion is that you consider the pig which Tandy Leather Factory carries called ' mission grain pig' in brown. It is very strong laterally and very thin... I have covered several books with it myself... it is cheap but looks expensive...and pig wears well ( not really a concern for your project.... just FYI ) ...
You would want the veg tanned leather if you wanted to add decoration to it like is done to saddles, belts, billfolds, etc... But that involves some extra tools and research... and most importantly puts the job of applying a protective finish into YOUR ballpark... I can tell / show you how to do that... I have samples which look great 40 years later... but for your first project I suggest you use the pig and have the feeling of accomplishment from that to influence the decision about the more complicated veg cover..
Ask any questions you need to.... later, Greg

Do you have a sketch of what you would like?
What sort of look are you wanting... polished, rustic???

I would also suggest going the custom route. Having had a Timbuk2 back custom made for holding climbing gear, i love having control. You now can decide things like:
~Pad attachment system (Clip, sleeve)
~PDA on outside/inside/some system for both (This was my biggest pet peeve. I had to sacrifice some usability of the PDA to keep it in a portfolio)
