Full Version: Moore with a VERY flexible nib

I bought a Moore BHR pen from a friend.
The pen is a small 4 1/2" long pen.It is in an excellent condition and it saw very little to no real use since it was bought.
The body feels fresh and new and the nib doesnt look like had any real use.
The model is the L-82 if you want to know but it means nothing to me since I dont really specialised in Moore pens.
The reason I bought the pen is because I wanted for atleast 1 real flexible nib pen.And BOY OH BOY did I get a FLEXIBLE nib.
This nib is Soooooo Sweeeeeeet. This is one of those nibs you sigh and feel sorry pen makers dont make any more.
I am sure with too much pressure you can bent the nib or break it.

First the pen itself is nothing to run home and tell your friends. Its avery simple BHR pen.I must admit I was never the huge fan of BHR pens but I do like their feeling in the hand and appreciate their light weight.
Its a "Self Filler Lever Fill".

Ok this pen is really all about the nib and I couldnt wait to get it back from my pen tech (he installed a new sac).
So after too quck fills I eagerly put the nib on the paper and started to write.
Ohhhh what an AMAZING feeling.Writing with a true flexible nib is such a different feeling then writing with a stiff or springy nib.
To be hones it almost feels like painting.Yes I didnt write the letters I painted them. This nib makes these line variations so easy and the whole experience is almost artistic.
There is one big problem. My hand writing is horible and not even aflexible nib will help here.In a way you could say this nib is wasted on me.
So sadly thats why I didnt give you a writing example.

Talking about balance with this pen is a joke, you dont even feel the pen in your hand it is that light weight.
I was also surprised to see that for a relativly small pen it holds a lot of ink.

Well what can I say if you still dont own a pen with a reall flexible nib you got to get one,it will make you smile everytime you write with it!!!

Hey goodguy, I wish you would post a writing sample smile.gif

I have several flexible nibs but I don't yet have a wet noodle pen!

Looks like you made a good catch, that pen is crisp to say the least. I'm glad you're enjoying it.

And yeah, can you scan a sample for us? Pleeeeze!!!

Goodguy - what luck you are in - I happened to snag one of these - but not in such good condition - really - the nib is a treat - good flex - not so much you cant write - but very nice.
Thanks for sharing

This is the epitome of a good pen: light, elegant, great writer, holds lots of ink, and made from a classic material. What else is there to be desired? thumbup.gif
Lovely pen!

Thanks for the review, goodguy! It certainly is a different feeling using a pen with a flexy nib, that's for sure smile.gif

Lovely pen!

The only issue I would say with the pen is its size.I have relativly big hands.I feel very comfortable with BIG pens and a 4 1/2 pen is a bit too small for me.
If my wife was into FP's this pen would be perfect for her.

Thanks, Goodguy, for the nice review and picture. Nice find--I love the looks of this pen. I too was surpised at the light weight of a Swan I picked up last year, and it writes very nicely. Not as flexy as yours, but I can definitely feel a difference from my modern pens. The BCHR pens and my two Pelikans have made me appreciate lighter weight pens. I know what you mean about the size, too, but my hands are small so it's not a big issue for me. I hope you get a lot of good use out of your pen. thumbup.gif

Looks like a nice find. I have one that I found among my grandparents's stuff that's probably the same pen, but very very worn (before I knew better, I thought it was supposed to be brown!) and the nib has a broken tine, so I've never had a chance to use it. Maybe I'll find a replacement nib one of these days, though I have to look carefully at the rest of it and see if it's really worth putting another nib into.
