Though started in 2007 this is my first pen of 2008.
because of a few miscalculations in construction of the blank this pen is not sellable but I have corrected the problem and plan to proceed with the design on future pens.I did want to see it in an assembled pen so i didn't spend a lot of time applying my normal lacquer finish to it.
I did a quick finish on it and experienced "dull spots" using CA.
Ebony and aluminum

Comment suggestions appreciated.

Oh my.
That's so.. what's the word? ..not beautiful.. 'desirable' that's the word.
Yes, it's so desirable.

I'd rather like one; Shame I'm currently limited to £0.48p pens.

Regards

Richard.

I like the looks of it quite a bit. Can you show us more? I'd love to see what the clip looks like, the nib, how the pen looks posted, and so on.

It sounds like you're making more of these? Any idea how many you'll make?

It almost looks like filmstrip.

Since I make all my pens one at a time I have no idea how many I will make of any one design.
I certainly cannot compete with pens that mass produced.
Because of the emthods and materials I use no 2 are exactly alike.
For instance the ebony on this one has light brown wood in it, the next one may be jet black
This particular one is assembled in a new"kit",
It is a roller ball at the moment.
I knew this was not going to be sold due to some flaws I noted while building the blank.
Since it was a proto type I didn't have enough components to make another from scratch but I did want to see what it would look like assembled.
I decided to continue it and do a "down and dirty" finish.
When I make another for sale it will have an acrylic sealer and lacquer top coat.

Any chance you would do up a bit of an article on your techniques when you have time?

Respectfully no.
These are woodworking techniques that are rather simple.

Hmm. Which simple techniques?
I can think of a few, and laying a mosaic on a brass tube would also do it. Most techniques I can think of would be highly inefficient. From the look of your pens, Eagle, it looks as if you've found an effective & efficient technique.
