Hello everyone -

I am fountain pen user/accumulator. I started with modern pens a few years ago and have gradually been converted to the dark side of vintage pendom.

Now my favorite weekend activity (to the consternation of my wife and children) is to skulk through antique stores in quest of old pens to restore. Fortunately my oldest daughter has an eagle eye for pens when she isn't bored out of her mind strolling down musty, dusty aisles tongue.gif

I live in rural northeast Iowa, and raise registered Highland Cattle. That's Cricket in the picture with my youngest son in his kilt.

It's nice to be here!

Tom, I have seen this pic before. Have you posted it on other pens boards? Welcome. You'll like FPN I'm sure.

Hi Tom,

welcome to FPN. Take a chair and enjoy the show.

Denis.

Hello Tom,

Don't know whether you stumbled in here or got a heads up from some source, but we're happy that you did. biggrin.gif It's a comfortable way to ease out of a busy day, though your antique shop crawling is probably very theraputic, as well.

The gardeners just left here after triming back all the plantings. So, we're ready for the tough Tucson area winter! laugh.gif You wouldn't even recognize it as winter. wink.gif

Enjoy!

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Kendall is right about the Avatar photo - I posted this on Pentrace a while back. It is my youngest son and one of our Highland cows - her name is Cricket. She has been a pet since she was born and when she was a week old we took her to the elementary and preschools in town for the children to see.

On the pen side I started with modern pens 7 or 8 years ago, and in the last two years have shifted to vintage. Being in Iowa I mostly concentrate on Sheaffer and Parker.

Nice to be here.

Hi Tom.

I am currently putting up a fence at the Minnesota Border so that you can't access any antique stores near me. No fair checking the northern IA stores - I was doing that ohmy.gif
Just kidding - welcome to you...

Hello Tom and Welcome to the FPN! smile.gif I too have found the calling of vintage pens too strong to ignore any longer and have accumulated several Sheaffer fountain pens, which I need to have restored at some point in the future. Moreover, I have found some great items for sale at yard sales and antique stores, including a Sheaffer Snorkel in great for $1.00 with a 14k nib.

I am sure that you will love it here on the FPN. biggrin.gif

Searching through old antique stores on weekends, eh? You're not alone! wink.gif

Welcome to FPN, Tom! biggrin.gif

I remember your intro on Pentrace but afterwards I always thought you were from Scotland! One of our regular members (Cam, where are you lurking?) is from Scotland so I just sort of assumed... Anyway, that's a nice photo in your avatar. smile.gif
