Also...I accidently "overscrewed" my converter on my pen. Now the converter is kind of loose, but Ive been writing with it for quite a while and everything seems fine. Does it need to be repaired? If so, do I have to replace the entire lower piece of the pen?

To confirm you screwed the converter into the section of the pen and now it is loose there. Not that the converter itself is loose.

What type of pen is it. Many converters just sit in the section and are connected similarly to a cartridge while some manufacturers ( ie. Delta) have a converter that has threads on it and screws into the section.

I would say take the converter out and look into the section if it looks OK then the easiest thing to do would be buy another converter and try again but first use a cartridge of ink to insure the section is still ok.

Or the much easier thing to do would be to remove the converter and reset it in place and continue using it.

Just my opinion on hte information given.
