I love my Sonnet, but lately every time I take the cap off there is dried up ink at the base of the nib. A few days ago I put the nib in the pen cleaner and got it all cleaned up, but when I used it yesterday the mess was back. I've always used Sheaffer brown ink in this pen. The only thing different is I started a new bottle of Sheaffer brown recently, but I can't remember if the problem started before or after I began using the new bottle. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with a Sonnet?

Don't have a sonnet, but I do have a certain level of experience with Skrip. I've known for Skrip to cause nib-creep, so it may be related to that. Try a different ink and see what happens, perhaps?
If that doesn't work, it's probably a fault of the pen itself. Perhaps it needs some servicing.

Maybe the nib/feed has come a bit unscrewed and ink is leaking through the gap in the threads that hold the assembly in the section. You could try giving it a gentle clockwise twist and see if that stops whatever is leaking.

I have two Sonnets. One does this and the other does not. The one that leaks does not do so straight after it has been filled, but after I have used it for a while. It then accumulates very small quantities of dried ink on the nib ring making it look tarnished. I have had the nib out, cleaned it, and then tried progressive levels of tightness, but nothing seems to cure it. I have used both Quink and Waterman inks in it with no noticeable difference.
I assume that this is an issue with the feed, but the problem is not so bad that I have ever bothered to do anything about it

I have had this issue before, since I have a lot of pens, I sent the pen to Sanford and they replace the feed and nib and tested it for me.
Try that if all else fails
