Absolutely, flat out gorgeous, Tom,:bunny1: and welcome!

Boy, a pen maker and a very competent photographer, to boot! Stick around. You really dress up this board. biggrin.gif

Is that a daughter or grandaughter in your avatar?

Welcome to FPN! Any chance we'll see some more of your work here? Of course, I guess we could just check out your website  . Certainly glad you're here and looking forward to your contributions. Nice pens, BTW.

Welcome Tom. Great looking pens. Can we see the nibs too?

That is my daughter... the absolute love of my life... smart as a whip and loves to be out in the shop with me....
She is in first grade and already has taught herself to write cursive and of course Daddy made her a fountain pen biggrin.gif biggrin.gif Cocobolo, her favorite wood...

I will be posting more work soon....
Am working on a limited edition of laser engraved pens. I think the next set will be alternative ivory with a scrimshaw style nautical theme.... and then some 1400 yr old Irish Bog Oak with a Celtic design...

Thanks for all the kind words... it is nice when your work is appreciated.
The nibs on these are gold plated iridium tipped, but I have a source of solid gold nibs that can be put in them... I would show the nibs on these, but the first pen is sold and the second was donated to the Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth TX for a fund raising auction.

Lovely work. Yes, a view of the nib would be nice, too.

Tom, I checked your website. The wood materials you use are stunning, especially the burls. I especially like the Baron and Jr. Gentlemen designs. I was also intrigued by the corncob grain pattern. Is it hard like wood? Seems to be the very interior of the cob.

Can you reveal who makes your nibs? For those of us who modify nibs, a well made nib can always be tweaked.

The corncob grain is actually a corn cob..... in fact those are corn cobs that are about 30 yrs old that I found in my Father-in-law's old chicken coop on the farm...
The color is from being air dried so long in that environment... corn cob pens from newly dried corn tend to be a lot lighter in color... the big thing is finding very dry cobs that have a thin pith area otherwise you lose the kernel effect....
They are a PIA to do, but the results are worth it... When I am finished with them they are as hard as wood.

The nibs I use now are coming with the hardware I purchase for the pens, but I also have a supplier of solid gold nibs for this series of pens and also for a larger series that I will be making soon

Here are pictures of the gold nibs, both are 14K gold
This is the nib for the larger pens...

This is the nib for the Baron/Jr Gentleman series

Lovely pens. Welcome! laugh.gif

Hi Tom,

the first gold nibs (first pictures) are very nice. So simple.

I noticed on your site that the Jr.Gentleman comes in two versions, one with a thread at the end of the barrel and one without. Is that correct ? (The threads on the barrel end to post the cap have always bothered me in kits).

Yes Denis, that particular pen can be had in either version....
I find that most men seem to like the non posting and most women seem to like the posting version....

More questions (Christmas is coming fast you know laugh.gif)... Do you have any model with brushed or frosted steel hardware ?
Ann Finley
Hi Tom, and welcome! Very pretty and intriguing work that you do.

Looked at your web site and have a question...In the slideshow, is the Barron that is shown between the white Jr. Gentleman and the Eurostyle Ballpoint made from the Curly Koa? (Whichever it is, it's my favorite. smile.gif) You have some very pretty acrylics, too.

Best, Ann

Amazing work Tom! Quite lovely artwork. Welcome!

Ok Let me answer two posts here...
Denis, the finishes I can get for the Baron are bright gold, platinum, black titanium, sterling silver, chrome and satin nickel. I generally keep gold and platinum on hand and would have to order any of the others. Not a big deal, I get quick shipping from my supplier...
The Jr Gentleman that does not have the threaded back only comes in gold and platinum

Ann, the Baron that you saw is made from Bethlehem Olive Wood that I obtain from a source in the Holy Land.... every year the olive trees are trimmed (much like we do apple trees here)... the wood I obtain has been dried for at least 2 yrs and then trimmed to size for pen and other artistic endeavors.... The Eurostyle that follows it is also Bethlehem Olive Wood..

I quite like the section on the right side. Which model is that ?
