Trolling through the Esterbrook listings on the online auction site (Danger Danger!!) I found this listing

Pink Purse Pen

I see a very well respected seller, a nice nib and a seemingly very good condition Purse Pen in a slightly less common colour needing a new sac. The colour in the photos does appear a bit more fluro pink than the pink ones I have.

I do not see any outrageous claims or stickers in the listing.

At $237.49 with nearly 3 hours to go am I merely seeing the state of the market for good condition Purse Pens, a stimulating bidding duel between two experienced and solid bidders or is there some extraordinary attribute that my poor old eyes are missing?

As always the views of the pundits are sought and valued.

Saw the auction and thought I must be missing something too.

I'm attributing it to a well known seller, and excellent ad, and a two people that must really want the pen.

I also know of two equally good and restored examples of the same pen that could had for about half the current bid with a warranty.

Did you see the Doctor's sets from the Lotts that end in a few days?

I almost asked the same question earlier today. biggrin.gif

My opinion:

1) I know the color is hard to find in good shape
2) The combo of the pen color and the jewel color is not that common (atleast for the ones I've seen)
3) Some one had a lot of Christmas money wink.gif

It's because pink pens kick ass!

I have two pink purse pens, one has black jewels the other white jewels. I am not familiar with esties as I collect mostly CS. Is there any signifcance to the jewel color, value difference, age difference etc.?

Tomcs,

The "white" jewels would most likely be faded pink. The pens that have jewels that match the body color seem to be more sought after as compared to the standard black jewel pens.
