I just received my Visconti Opera Club ([topic="46395"]review[/topic]) back from Greg Minuskin after a quick (i.e. days) turn around on converting my Visconti to a juicy medium stub. This is my first stub nib and I couldn't be happier. Loaded with Waterman Havana Brown, it makes a wonderfully wet line, nice variation in width and tone. And s-m-o-o-t-h.

The first pic is a writing sample. The nib pics are of my pen, taken by Greg.

It looks like fantastic work. What nib did you have it converted from?

Edit: Not enough letters in one of the words...

I think this is GREAT. I'm gonna send a Parker Vac to him.

I actually had it ground and retipped because it was a fine. I could have saved the retipping fee if I had started out with a broad, or maybe a medium, but I wasn't planning on getting the stub at the time. After further writing, I am amazed at the workmanship. This really adds the flair the Honey Almond Visconti needs.

Edit: Too many letters, not enough content . . .

What did it cost to retip and grind the nib? Do you know what he retips it with?

That is one SWEET looking nib. Excellent photos as well. I'm gonna have to get a stubbed nib soon. Would a Pel 605 with a med-nib be a good one to stub?

I think the 605 (I have one) is an excellent candidate. Send off an email to your favorite nibmeister and check the options, but I would think and 8mm or 9mm could turn out well.

There are some great nibmeisters listed in this recent thread ([topic="47383"]nib gurus[/topic]). I have personally had wonderful service from Greg Minuskin and Richard Binder.

Hey, thanks for that reply. Yes, I know about Mr. Binder's work. He took care of a flow issue and reground a nib on one of my pens. Most incredible writer ever, after that.

Again, congrats on your pen.
