Has anyone tried Pilot's Iroshizuku ink from Japan? Apparently, the colors are based on "morning glory hydrangea," and look very interesting. Translated from Nihongo into English it says:

"From the scene which makes Japanese nature beautiful

The beautiful views that exist mainly in Japan, are the essence of nature. The hydrangea (dew) drop series is created from the coloration rich ink, which captures the beautiful scene. These colors will will further the joy of writing bringing pleasure to you."

I would love to know how well this ink flows and what nibs work the best with it?

That looks pretty nifty... but it's a shame that it only comes in five shades of blue...

Nice bottle and I would be interested to trying a color or two. The price is about $13 US per 50mL bottle, a little pricey compared to their regular ink.

Now in stock @ ujuku! Link Here. At the current exchange rate, the price is approximately 14 usd.

*sigh* How pretty! I've always had a fondness for hydrangeas (ajisai) although my mother was somewhat offended/annoyed when my sister chose them for her wedding arrangements, as apparently their ability to change colour (I think depending on soil chemistry?) is symbolic of a woman's ever-changing moods... Still, for me, the cool blue of the hydrangeas seem to define the hot, humid summers spent in Japan with my family. cloud9.gif

From what I have seen, the two shades of hydrangeas that appeal to me the most are Asa-gao, and Kon-peki. Likewise, Tsuyu-kusa is very nice, with a good color balance. When my friend Tomoko comes to visit her sister here in my town, I will have to talk her into bringing me a bottle of each, so I can test them out. Nonetheless, I must confess that these colors are very nice and remind me of being in Japan as well. cloud9.gif

Hi all

The colours are so beautiful. The rumour from one of the japanese distributor is there is going to be 15 colours in total. I wonder what's the next set of shade is going to be....

I like their Ink for General, $12.97 for 350 mls (over 1/2 a pint). I presume this is an ink for schools to use...
