We were out looking at the xmas lights in a local park when I saw a Banana tree with it's leaves starting to brown. This brought back memories of seeing some Buddhist sutra's written on banana leaves I saw in a bookstore years ago.

So I took a piece from the ground then at home ironed both sides and the result is below.

Sort of interesting and I already know who is going to get a banana snail from me

That offends me.

JUST KIDDING.

I like that... a banana leaf is better than some paper.

Does that say, "...better than some Moleskine paper"? laugh.gif

That's a neat idea. smile.gif But isn't it illegal to transport banana snails into most states?

Personally, I prefer my banana leaves wrapped around a delicious tamale! biggrin.gif

Seriously, though, that's a pretty cool idea, Kurt. I wonder if there are any other plants that would work?

No it says modern but when I put it on the scanner I didn't blot first so the last two lines smeared.

I would expect that any large leaf plant would work as long as you could dry it out properly. The one thing I notice is that the leaf is starting to get brittle in one direction. The sutras must have been done on multiple layers of leaves glued together. Or I could just pulp a bunch of leaves and make paper the old fashioned way bunny01.gif
