Full Version: Red Ripple 52 1/2 V sac size ?

The Pensac Co. site lists the 52 1/2V as using a 15-2 1/8 Necked.

But a member of the forum suggested that might not fit...

So I am asking for anyone with direct knowledge as to the size I should buy to enlighten me...
I have DaBook but it does not address this as far as I can find.
I just scored it on Ebay so I don't have it in my hand to take apart or measure...

Thanks, Greg

I don't stock ANY necked sacs. Straight sacs will do for most applications, including the Skylines which had a tapered sac. The maufacturer may have used them, but I gather that most repair people in the past didn't use the odd shaped sacs either - I rarely see them when I repair a pen. Most of the time (incuding Skylines) you'll find a straight sac.

The middle of the curve on sizes used falls around #16 and #18 sacs. A few are smaller, and a few are larger. But if you stock up on these two sizes, you'll have what you need for about 80% of the pens you'll repair.

Keep in mind that we tend to buy sacs in the even number sizes - but there are odd number sizes as well. So when someone says "go down 2 sizes" they mean go from a #18 to a # 16 - not 18 to 14 because there is a #17 in the middle!

I just resac'ed a Waterman 52 with a #16 sac and it works fine. It probably could fit the next larger size, though.

The 52 1/2 is more slender than a regular 52.... was yours the regular 52?
Thanks, Greg
