I have this beautiful Sheaffer, I think is a Marine Senior Balance. It has two chips missing in the cap lip, plus two cracks. Is there anyone there with the skill and the donor pen who could do this repair?

Repairing the marine green plastic so that the chips are invisible would be nearly impossible (unless you solvent weld in a chip). Replacing the cap lip with plastic from a donor pen is possible, as would be replacing the cap lip with black plastic. Sealing the cracks and then filling with a clear material is possible.

The problem is that marbled plastic. With a solid color you can make a slurry to fill in the crack and match the area around the crack. With a marbled plastic, you can't match the pastic. It just turns muddy.

Ron,

Is it possible to solvent weld chips from a donor pen to match the plastic?

Maybe. I have managed to do so on a black and pearl Balance, and you couldn't see the repair. But when working with these pens I don't like to give an absolute answer. There are occasions where as soon as you repair one crack, another opens up.

I'd start looking for a replacement cap. If the cap is really in that bad of condition, it's better to replace it than to spend the $$$ fixing it. Unless you do it yourself, in which case it can be a learning experience.
