Lance
Hi everyone,
Just stumbled onto this site and thought I'd register and tell a little about myself. I live in South La. about 45 minutes west of New Orleans in a town called Houma. I build fishing rods for a living started making pens almost three years ago. I am also a member of the IAP. Most of the pens I make are fountain pens in the closed end style. I started selling them at shows last year and it has turned into a second job for me sometimes taking time away from my rodbuilding.

When not building rods and pens some of my other pastimes includes cooking Cajun food, fishing and just recently started collecting fountain pens from various manufacturers.

Well thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope to start posting and contributing even if it's in a small way.

Welcome Lance. I've been to your fair city several times. You can see where I'm from. Feel free to post any pics of your work here. You'd probably find some buyers.

So Dwight, what awful thing did you do, to get exiled from the promised land? tongue.gif

Needed a way to make a living. Left in '87 after the oilfield shut down again.

I really like to eat and like a roof over my head to keep the rain off. biggrin.gif

Yeah, pretty important considerations. Just yanking your chain. Are you an LSU fan, and if so, is it difficult to do that in Bulldog Country?

Hello and welcome to FPN. I'm about 30 mil NNE of New Orleans and have traveled through Houma going to the coast for oil related stuff.

Love to see some rods and pen pics!

Thanks everyone for the nice welcome. I had no idea there were this many members in my area and even others that has heard of Houma. Hopefully I'll get a chance to post a few pics but my busy time of the year for rod sales is just beginning with my first boat show starting next Fri. I have 7 boat and sport shows lined up through March and will be real busy building rodsin between shows so the pens will be on the back burner for a few months buy I do hope to get in some turning in between shows. Turning pens is my relaxation and if I don't make any in a while I start getting a little antsy.
