I picked up my first Conway Stewart today. A #15 in very good condition, with 'How to Use/Guarantee' leaflet and box.

I need some help dating this pen - I believe that these were manufactured between 1952 and 1963? Is there any way of narrowing this down at all? The base of the nib is marked '1A' - what does this mean? (Nib size?)

Here are a couple of pic's:

Kind regards, Max

You may already have these sites; if not, they are starting points:

http://www.conwaystewartpens.co.uk/

I believe that nib 1A is a "medium-flex".

Thanks mehitabel,

Had found the www.conwaystewartpens.co.uk site, but not Jonathan's very good site. Perhaps I could suggest to the moderators a pinned 'getting started with Conway Stewart' post pointing to some of these references?

Good idea, but not being a moderatore the most I can do is say 'Good idea'!

However, as a further tip, if you go to the very first posts in this forum and read the large number made by Maxpen you will find some very interesting and informative work.
