Green stripes, Fine nib. I filled it first w/ Pelikan blue, but didn't like the color and rinsed it out. Then I filled it with my old standby, Lamy blue, looks good now and puts down a decent line. I figure it's German ink, should be close enough. ;-)

Nice looking pen. Is the nib a little wide for a Fine like the one on the 400?

My M800 fine writes substantially wider and wetter than my M620 (Picadilly). But it's smooth and a pleasure to write with.

I've hypothesized that the nib seems wider because it is all-around bigger, therefore it is flexier (more flexible9, and therefore lays down a wider line.
Oh yeah, Lamy blue... that's my go-to ink also.

Nice looking pen, but then Pelikans usually are. I find that the medium nib on my M800 seems to write a little wider than my M400/600s, but then it is a physically bigger nib. I also have an EF for the M800, wich despite general opinion writes pretty smoothly and without any problems.
Hope you enjoy your pen, I know what you mean about Pelikan Blue ink a bit non descipt, but I have seen worse, the Black is nice though, you might want to try that in the future, also Diamine make some nice inks, Indigo is a favourite as is Sapphire Blue.

I own a 1987 m800 with a m nib and it is one of the smoothest writers I have ever owned. Enjoy yours and hope it will give you years of writing pleasure.

I have not purchaed any Pelikan black ink, since the last bottle I bought came complete with mold. But the guys at the FPH immediately replaced it. It is a nice black ink, but not any better, IMHO, than Watermans black.
