HI ALL
WHATS THE BEST WAY TO REMOVE THE NIB AND FEED FROM A PARKER 17
HOPE SOMEONE CAN LET ME KNOW
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
LES
I've never been able to get the feed out of a P17. I think it may be glued in on manufacture.
I have got the nib out. The first thing to do is to remove the hood. I heated mine in near boiling water, and after a lot of twisting when hot, the hood eventually came free - took me 15 minutes or so on the first removal. I think an adhesive had been used on the thread rather than the shelac that's used on the P51. The nib was then a straight pull from the feed. I gripped both sides with pliers and pulled without gripping too hard (not easy!).
Do be careful though. The P17 doesn't look too strong once the hood's off.
Regards
Richard.
