Hello! I've been lurking here, reading the reviews, ever since I fell in love with the Lamy CP1. But so few Lamy reviews! And how come Lamy are hard to find on Ebay?

Other things I like, and am snobbish about:
- coffee
- programming languages
- video games

Thanks for all the time and effort you guys have been putting into the forums. It's a great knowledge base!

Welcome! I think you'll find lots of Lamy fans here too, esp. fans of the Lamy 2000 and Safari / Al-Star biggrin.gif

Lamy? Did someone say LAMY? laugh.gif

Fire, that was the key word for Myu. Check out his exhaustive (and excellent, by the way) review of the 27! I'm still on the lookout for one of those...

You'll find plenty of us Lamy fans here. The 2000 has a nearly perennial spot on the Top 10 list.

Welcome, by the way!

Thanks, everyone!

What's up with pengallery.com, and why are their prices like half what anyone else charges?

Also, what's up with the lack of Lamys on Ebay?

Nothing's up with PenGallery.com. They're based in Malaysia - cost of living's cheaper there than in the US. Maybe that accounts for it? Their pen prices aren't that low in general, just for a few pens like the Lamy 2000...

I don't think that there aren't enough Lamys on eBay - just that there're too many Parkers, Sheaffers etc rolleyes.gif Besides, Lamy isn't as well-established in the US as those brands.

Every store I've been into that sells the higher-priced pens (like Pelikan) also sells Lamy, so maybe it's just where I shop.

All this Lamy love has made me want to find my Stypen collection.

Same here. Every "pen shop" I have visited has Lamy pens. Some of the office supply stores that also carry pens do not have them. Lamy has not quite made a name for itself as pocket jewelry yet. I think they are used mostly by people who actually write with them, so I see them in Stationary shops a lot.

I don't know how PenGallery does it, but they are legit. Back when I used to collect exclusively modern pens (especially Pelikan,) I purchased a number of items there. Low-cost (used to be $15, maybe still is) express shipping gets the new goodies to you quickly too.
Best regards, greg

Still is and I love their packing. Whatever you buy will be wrapped against all perils. thumbup.gif

Lamy Vista was my first writing FP and the 2000 is a daily go-to pen.

My introduction to the Lamy line was an Apple Lamy Safari pen I bought ages ago -- maybe almost 20 years ago. I lost it, and that's one of the things that eventually got me to try a Lamy Safari FP. I didn't enjoy the FP, but maybe it's time to go check out their ballpoints again.

Fellow Lamy Lover here. Have been using their ballpoint and roller ball pens for years. Just developed an interest in fountain pen writing and bought a Lamy Safari Black, which I love. Received a Lamy All Star as a gift, which I like. But the aluminum is kind of cold this time of year. wink.gif

Here in the SF bay area, there are several brick-and-mortar stores that carry Lamy fountain pens. Because they are fairly readily available and are moderately priced, I wouldn't even think of looking at eBay for them. If not available locally, I'd buy from an online pen store to support the cause.

Welcome fire! Lots of Lamy fans here. I only have a 2000 but have not quite got to fan status yet. Jump in and post away!

Have several Lamy 27s and this was the only place I found some information about these pens clap1.gif
