crybaby.gif After reading so many good things about the HP 32# laser paper, I decided to give it a try. My staples was out, so I thought I'd try Staples brand 32# laser. I'm really dissipointed.

The Staples 32# is a "gloss white"; almost reminds me of glossy photo paper. It's very shiny, and the ink almost "beads up" when writing. The ink color looks good on the paper, but it seems to want to smear, even after drying for 3 - 4 minutes.

I've not used the HP 32# yet, does it act the same way?

Just an update. I found the HP 32# at another staples. THe HP is MUCH better paper.
I think the problem with the Staples 32# is the glossy finish.

My understanding, which may or may not be correct, is that the HP 32 pound paper does not have a coating. The smoothness is due entirely to the way it is made. Does anyone know for sure?

There are a bunch of variables for determining the suitability of paper for fountain pens: weight, composition, finish, coating.....
