Hello,
I am a photographer who still uses film, and I do all of my own processing of my prints in a "wet darkroom". It seems only natural that the values and craftsmanship that are a part of that practice would be an environment for fountain pens as well. I try to write "real letters" instead of using email, and of course always with a fountain pen, for the same reasons, or at least ... with the same feeling, that I make real silver emulsion prints instead of computer printed ink jet prints from my pictures.
I am currently using a Parker 75 and have ordered a Sailor 1911, full size, black and silver, which I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of. I am on the lookout for a Parker 51 next, and am very grateful for the info about them that I have already found on this forum.

Looking forward to making some new friends,

Tim R

Welcome Tim! It's nice to find other folks with shared interests, all that's new is not necessarily better! Hope you enjoy the forum and good luck on your 51 hunt!

Welcome Tim! How well I remember 1,000 years ago, helping my brother count to ten while he was holding a piece of celluloid up in a dark room. I seem to recall the film in a wooden frame or holder and a source of light somewhere. I remember basins filled with sharp smelling chemicals and how quickly he placed the film in one basin and then swished it in another. He had quite a business developing pictures for the kids in our elementary school! What a memory you brought back with this post!

Thanks for the welcomes everyone smile.gif

Mississauga is just west of Toronto. One of the best things about living here is that we are right next to Lake Ontario, so we have the modifying effect of the lake on temperatures (warmer winter, cooler summer) but from this side, we get very little snow. What snow we did get this year has mostly all been rinsed away by rain in the last couple of days and now the sun has come out. A one hour drive to the north there is a ski resort at Collingwood. I do not ski but it illustrates the contrast in conditions.

Hi Tim and welcome to the FPN. biggrin.gif

I have been to Mississauga before and its very nice there. Moreover, I used to have medium and large format camera equipment, and enjoy working with black & white in a darkroom very much. I have so many slides and negatives that I need to have scanned from my earlier days. I really need to buy a slide scanner someday soon.

Happy New Year!!
