I few months ago I picked up one of the leather cover journals (5.25 X 8.25 approx). After a few days I noticed it would not close flat. The top cover had warped outward from the pages and, as well, I started to detect a moldy odor coming from the journal. Since I had traveled to Bermuda by ship I figured it had something to do with the environment.

After returning home the odor was stronger and I changed the journal. After a few days I noticed the cover of the new journal started to warp outward as well. However there was no odor. I removed it from the leather cover and have used it relying on the elastic strap to keep it closed. I keep my journals in Renaissance leather covers.

I am curious if anyone else has experienced this? I have not had this experience with the smaller journals which actually take much more abuse than the larger ones I use.

Thanks in advance.

Yes I keep a Moleskine in my briefcase and it warped. Terrible for the price I paid, the paper stinks.

Going to stick with Black&Red notebooks. Moleskine is overated in my book.

Me too. Bonded leather and put together terribly.
