Just received my Laguna Verde B nib Van Gogh. Swisher's special color, or what I like to think of fondly as mil spec green. You know, that funky color green they always issued us? Except this one has pretty swirls on the cap. [Sorry, no camera available at the moment]
Anyway, there are still 2 left on flea bay at $135 as of this posting if anyone feels the need to experience a Maxi with a white gold nib and pretty palladium finished metal bits. I personally find it very fitting to have a subdued/camo style Van Gogh and it's got that luscious Visconti B nib I crave.
Hate to leave anyone on a budget hanging without a chance to nab their chance at one of these luscious beauties at a price you'll probably never see again for a brand new Van Gogh Maxi.
Now I'm off to play with my new baby. Too bad real camo doesn't come in these colors

Just completed the ebay purchase of a Laguna Verde Van Gogh from Swisher. Fabulous price. It will probably take a few days longer to land at my door this time of year but couldn't resist.

Wow... Does anybody have larger photos of this pen than what's available online? Is it made of a different material than the regular Van Gogh line? From the review of it here on FPN I got the impression that it's less shiny than the other Van Goghs. Or is it just the color that's different?

It's the color that's different. Don't have a camera handy right this second, but it's the same swirls as with others. The difference is in the VERY subtle, very pastel mix of pale green, pale lilac and just the faintest hint of cream. It's a funky color and reminds me of the military surplus green paint on my elementary school. Sort of a pea green base. Compared to the more intense shades of the other Van Goghs, it'll be VERY subtle and really looks best in daylight. Artificial lights with their blue or yellow tones give it a very strange [to my eyes] shading. But in daylight, it does look tropical.
I got it initially thinking you can't go wrong with a Maxi at this price and the color is slowly growing on me. I got very little color differentiation on the barrel and intense swirls on the cap. Luck of the draw. So mine may look a lot more green than other people's will turn out.

lilac? Interesting, on the photos that does not show up at all. I do love the combination of white and mil green though, reminds me of one of my paintings!
Ghost Plane, just curious: what other color Van Goghs do you have? I was considering getting myself a very indulgent Christmas gift of both the Musk and the Vanilla midi from a certain lady who is selling them for 100 bucks each. Currently I have the opague black, which may seem like an unusual choice for a Van Gogh (at least nobody else seems to have gotten one!) but is absolutely gorgeous -- especially with Burgundy ink dripping out of it. Anyway -- if you own, or have seen the Vanilla in person, would you say that the Laguna Verde color is sufficiently different?

Alas, the only vanillas I've seen were in photos on here. I have the musk green and the ocean blue. If you're thinking color complements, this shade would go far better with a vanilla shade. The musk clashes with it as the greens are very different intensities and hues. The musk green is more of an evergreen forest color. Very deep and intense with swirls of golden browns underneath.
The Swisher pen is VERY pastel. Kind of a shock next to the other two. Same bodies, same silver coloring [except my musk is an older one with the 2 tone nib], but lacks the intensity of shading the others have. It should look gorgeous between the black and the vanilla, but put the musk green on the other side!

This is exactly how mine looks, I got it April of this year. The cap has all the intensity.

The postal carrier delivered my Swisher Visconti Laguna Verde today. Ghost Plane did a fabulous job describing it above so I really don't have much to add other than a few pictures.
I will say I had to look at it for awhile and it is growing on me. I'm seeing more detail the more I look.

Egged on by Ghost Plane's happiness and Tytyvyllus's restored optimism, I finally bought this pen. I though there was a 40% or so chance that I would not like it "in person", because the color would not be to my liking (based on some photos and descriptions it seemed just what I want, but based on others it seemed awful). So I was preparing myself mentally for the possibility of having to return or resell it.
No such luck!
The pen arrived yesterday, just 2 days after I ordered it. I opened the packaging and the Visconti box cautiously. What followed was a serious attack of ... HAPPINESS!
Oh boy! I LOVE the look of this pen. In my particular pen, the swirls and color variation are a lot more evenly distributed between the cap and body than on JayLo's pics. Also, the green and lilac are mixed in a way as to give the pen an overall appearance of a neutral and earthy paisley-green sort of tone. To be objective, people who don't like this color might refer to this pen as "puke green" : ) so it is definitely not for everyone -- but I love it! A pastel military green!
Only when you look close, do you realise that the pattern is not a gray-green marble, but actually a complex intertwining of spring green, pastel lilac, cream and white. There is a particular spot, next to the top of the clip, where small, bright swatches of each color can be seen individually, and it lends a real sense of continuity to the rest of the pen: you can really see how the colors flow from their original, individual selves, in and out of the neutral mix.
I think the color of this pen looks just perfect with the metal hardware. For my taste I like it better than any of the other Van Gogh colors, so I am glad I got this one instead of Musk or Vanilla or Sandalwood, when I was thinking of a pair to my opaque black Van Gogh!
Thanks Ghost Plane for making me aware of this pen after I had been off the board for a while!
Now to get the nib reground to a .37mm italic... : )

I even got my mom one (rollerball not a big fan of fountain pen) because she loved the look of it. Alot of peopple think it has the look of marble

I agree that the Vanilla is a gorgeous pen -- I've handled all the Van Gogh colors in pen shops, trying to decide which I should get in addition to my black one. I do not usually collect pens with colors or especially "swirly" patterns in them. The Visconti Van Gogh is the only pen to ever, ever make me want to make an exception -- precisely, as you said, because the pens "look like marble", or an organic material of some sort, rather than cheap plastic. Anyway, what I mean to say is that Vanilla was my favourite too ...until I received the Laguna Verde in the mail. My reaction to this pen was by far more intense than to any of the other colors, Vanilla included. If you think that Vanilla has the look of "real marble," then with this pen this is even more so -- at least with mine, as I can imagine the color variations causing different effects on different pens. Also, the Laguna Verde is more opaque and has a thicker, more solid look to it than the Vanilla, which I prefer. In any case, I am obviously so in love with this pen right now, that I cannot even consider other colors yet : ) But knowing me, after some time goes by it is very possible that I will want the Vanilla again ... as well as the sandal-brown and the musk... Oh, what gluttonous thoughts!

I think the beauty of the Van Gogh pens -- ALL the colors -- is vastly underrated. Every single one of them has been something I've seen that I thought I wasn't interested in -- until I saw it in person.

I have several Van Gogh pens, and I love the fact that the color swirls are exactly the same swirls that Van Gogh used in his paintings. I have several Van Gogh reproductions (Starry Night, Cafe Terrace at Night, Icarus) hanging in my apartment.
Now, if only Visconti would do a Claude Monet pen.....
