Hi everyone!

I joined about a week ago and have learned so much from this forum already.

My Fountain Pen Story.....

I had a FP in my mid-20's...got it at a flea market. I have no memory of the brand but it was very cool...black, textured leather and it was the kind with the lever on the side for drawing up the ink. I wish i still had it...i have no idea what happened to it.

About a month ago i was watching "Anne Frank: The Whole Story" with my 12 yr. old son. For some reason, the part where she gets a fountain pen as a gift really touched me...and the fact that she wrote her world famous diary with one. In that moment i knew that i had to get one. I'm an artist and have used a Rotring Rapidogragh for years (i have a .18, .25, and .50 point). But for writing i have always used whatever was around (but it had to be a fine point).

So, thanks to Anne Frank i recently got a Waterman Kultur F. It writes very smoothly but it isn't fine enough for me. So, thanks to Richard in TX, who suggested it, i decided to get a Sailor Sapporo Mini F, and i'm excitedly awaiting its arrival from Nibs.com. My husband was OK with this since Christmas is coming (yippeee!)

I hope this is the perfect pen for me 'cause i don't plan on collecting (i know...you've heard that before!). My husband is an artist as well...both of us are constantly collecting, holding onto things...so, enough already! Besides, i like the idea of 'caring for' just one pen. smile.gif

I like this group...glad i found you all!

Welcome from lower Michigan! I love to go "up North" to visit the galleries and the lake! Northern Michigan is a very beautiful place and must be very inspring as an artist to live there.

Congratulations on your acquisition. You will love the Sapporo. Sailor makes some of the finest nibs on the planet.

Regards,

James

Welcome to FPN Jasper! What a great story. Another member here, Shangas has an Anne Frank quote on post signature.

So, look Jasper, I want to help you stay true to that idea. Just one pen. (I'm keeping a straight face) sell me the Kultur when the Sailor shows up. Remember - no fp collection, enough already, you like the idea of 'caring for' just one pen. Help me to help you. Come on, I know you can give it up! It's easy. I'll send you a check, paypal, whatever. Just one pen. lticaptd.gif

Thanks for the comments, guys. Yes, James...this area has attracted many artists...it's a wonderful place to live. What's your favorite gallery up here?

Fountainpenjunkie...i'm not sure if you were playing around...would you really like my kultur? PM me if you do. And i know we're not in the marketplace, but he started it. smile.gif

Welcome!

Don't worry about some of the comments here, fountain pens are not addictive.

Hurries off to score some Private Reserve American Blue from his dealer...

Greetings, Jasper, and Welcome to FPN!!!!
As my username would suggest, I live in Ann Arbor. Good to have you here.
Where in da UP are you at?
There are a few FPN members in A2, so, let us know if you come down here, we could have an imprompto get-together!!!

BTW, James of Pear Tree Pen Co. is also an Ann Arborite.

Welcome Jasper. I can't think of anyone here who has more than one fountain pen. As a matter of fact, this forum is limited to those who have just one pen and one bottle of ink.

Anyone who may have led you to believe otherwise is just bragging.

Jasper: Welcome to FPN. Where are you located in Northwest Michigan? I'll be visiting my son in Iron River, Michigan, just north of the Michigan-Wisconsin state line, in a few days.
