I joined about a week ago and have learned so much from this forum already.
My Fountain Pen Story.....
I had a FP in my mid-20's...got it at a flea market. I have no memory of the brand but it was very cool...black, textured leather and it was the kind with the lever on the side for drawing up the ink. I wish i still had it...i have no idea what happened to it.
About a month ago i was watching "Anne Frank: The Whole Story" with my 12 yr. old son. For some reason, the part where she gets a fountain pen as a gift really touched me...and the fact that she wrote her world famous diary with one. In that moment i knew that i had to get one. I'm an artist and have used a Rotring Rapidogragh for years (i have a .18, .25, and .50 point). But for writing i have always used whatever was around (but it had to be a fine point).
So, thanks to Anne Frank i recently got a Waterman Kultur F. It writes very smoothly but it isn't fine enough for me. So, thanks to Richard in TX, who suggested it, i decided to get a Sailor Sapporo Mini F, and i'm excitedly awaiting its arrival from Nibs.com. My husband was OK with this since Christmas is coming (yippeee!)
I hope this is the perfect pen for me 'cause i don't plan on collecting (i know...you've heard that before!). My husband is an artist as well...both of us are constantly collecting, holding onto things...so, enough already! Besides, i like the idea of 'caring for' just one pen.
I like this group...glad i found you all!
