I don't know about that, but I have one ballpoint. It's a Parker Jotter and I've started using it a little more now I've discovered the Parker Gel refills.

I can justify spending a lot of money on a fountain pen, since the more you spend on it the more likely you are to get a pen that writes well (yes, I know, there are great cheap pens and dogs that cost hundreds.) But that's not true of ballpoints, because you are relying on the same cheap refill however much you spend.

I just can't bring myself to spend more than a few quid on a pen I know for a fact will not write any better than a cheap one.

Tim,

I have the Prelude MPI. The ballpoint aspect of it is not its best feature, but I carry it daily more for the highlighter function anyway. It looks nice next to whatever fountain pen I have in my pocket... at least better than a plastic highlighter marker. The bp is kind of awkward to write with due to the tip design of the pen, but the marker works like a champ. Hope this helps.

I went ahead and went to my local pen store to take a look at em, I got to see all four different finishes and decided to go with the all gold. It is one great looking pen, the next fav would have been the black, then the all chrome, then the chrome with gold trim.

Anyway I love the pen, this will be the only ballpoint I ever buy since they are all basically the same, and it is probably best to get something unique if it is your only one.

I was actually impressed by the ballpoint pen function of it, it responds to a pretty fairly light touch compared to other 10 cent ballpoints or any other ball point for that matter, it is a bit weird with the opening so large to accomadate the highlighter but I think it might help the pen being in a more free area. The highlighter works great and is easy to switch back and forth.

Overall a great outstanding multi-purpose pen, my one and only ballpoint.
Design: 10/10
Materials 10/10
Cost 7/10

If you are to get one ballpoint this is the one. Thanks for the previous input.

Hey Tim, Glad you got one. Mine is the Forever Blue model, and the color changes from hues of purple to dark blue depending on the light source. BTW, I saw the highlighter and bp refills (blue & black) at OfficeMax. There had been some concern raised by other users that the refills only come in black, but I have seen the blue refills there (OfficeMax) and in the Levenger catalog (around $2). Office Max has the lowest refill prices for both ink and marker.

Edit: Levenger offers FREE shipping on refills, therefore they may be better source given the pennies difference.

Yea I actually saw the refills in person at an office max and asked if they sold the pen but there was a definite no. But a great pen, will come in handy for doing book notes and will encourage highlighting. a great tool.

I was thinking of something similiar that would be I think a good idea. Do a pencil version of this where instead of a highligher have an eraser come out. Sounds simple enough to me.

Yeah, good idea. I use mechanical pencils and can see a good use for somethihg along that line. That way there would be no uncapping an eraser and switching ends or reaching for a bulk eraser. The pencil could consist of a liquid lead stick, and the eraser could be some fashion of the current marker. eureka.gif
