Hi all,
just found out about this place. Since it is moderated, I hope this is somewhat friendlier than other places.
Tammo is my name, fountain pen writer and lover since several years, mostly interested in writing pens, not in limited editions.
Love many old pens with flexible nibs, but I also gave some friend a Rotring Core, not a fountain pen, but a hand writing improvement tool.
Hope to learn more here,
Tammo ter Hark

Hi Tammo,
You have come to the right place!

Of all the boards, if this isn't the friendliest, I don't know which is. I have frequented them all in my limited time in the interest, and this is THE place.
You'll find collectors of vintage and the modern accumulators here in great numbers. Pick your poison

and enjoy!

Hey Tammo,
Great to see you here! I reckon this is the firendliest pen place on the net, and fritter away way too much time here...

But isn't it fun...
Good to have you here!
Warmest regards, Wim

The pleasant atmosphere that we have here, compared to other boards, keeps me from going to the other board. The fact that threads are archived is a huge plus. It keeps me from asking questions that have been asked many times before. And the ink reviews are excellent.

Welcome to FPN Tammo!
I'm atypical in that I found FPN first and then heard of some of the other pen forums. I was very shocked and wondered why anyone visited them. I've been hanging out here (too much, actually) for about seven months now and can truthfully say the folks here are great! Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and just plain old fun to hang out with. I'm sure you'll enjoy it! Glad you found us and looking forward to getting to know you.
What pens ya got? What's your favorite? Favorite ink?
Take care,
southpaw

My experience was somewhat similar to Southpaw's. I first came upon FPN, and decided that this was going to be my main pen-related "hang-out." The people on this forum are some of the nicest I've run into anywhere, and there's a wealth of knowledge to be tapped by being here. (And some of that knowledge actually related to fountain pens.

)
Welcome to the party!

Welcome, Tammo. I've seen a few other places disappear beneath bile and spite and just general unfriendliness. It won't happen here.

Welcome to FPN! I hope you find this forum to be as friendly as I have found it; I've always known everyone here to be very good about civility

Anyhow, lots of us here use old and readily available pens; some would disagree with me, but I find many good vintage pens (common ones at that) to be more attractive (and easier on the wallet) than limited editions.

Welcome, Tarro. I've only just joined this group, and I've found it to be nothing but friendly and extremely helpful.

Welcome. Not only is this place friendly, but it is also filled with knowledgeable people. No joke, many of these people know their stuff.

Welcome to our little piece of pen heaven, Tammo. All the boards have their good and bad but I am admittedly, biased toward FPN. Always good to see new folks showing up and introducing themselves. Like you I buy pens to write with and of course you can do that with LEs but... i prefer the psychological freedom of using a pen that i know is made to write with, not to display.
look forward to seeing more of your posts.

Hi Tammo,
Welcome to FPN!

I'm sure I've seen you posting on PT so I am glad to see you here, too.
Yes, it is a friendly site and I found it very helpful as I was not really into inks that much before, but since I joined FPN....

Next: good writing paper!
Enjoy your time here.
