I suppose I should have declared myself before, but I caught the fountain pen bug in the summer, and through spending too much on you know where, I have have built up a small collection. Actually, I have found out that some pens I acquired earlier in life (and I have had a bit more life than I care to admit) are now quite recognized. I've also discovered the fun that can be had in opening one up and dealing with the mess inside, though I've already been clumsy enough to break one. Anyway I just wanted to make my first post here and say hello. Look forward to tallimg with you all from time to time.

What a great way to put it! Me, I'm old. There you go. Nothin' gracious about it.

Oh, man! Do I know that one. Here's a tip. Look at what you are doing. I figured I could reassemble the Esterbrook J nice and slow. By feel, as I watched TV. Seemed like I had just started, when SNAP! I look down in horror to find the section at about a 30 degree angle to the body. I had cracked the body at the threads. Ouch. But hey, it still works, has a butter smooth nib and was given to me by a dear friend, who found it in a small antique shop in Indiana for $2. Even cracked, it is worth a lot more than that to me.
