I don't have that many fountain pens, but here's what I've got:
1) Omas 360 Mezzo. I know purists don't like cartridge pens, but I like this pen because I can hold it in the dark and write with it.
2) Namiki Vanishing Point. Several colors including the 2007 Mandarin limited. It's my everyday work pen.
3) Aurora Mare. Still in box.
4) Recife Crystal. Several colors, I use for multicolor marking of manuscripts while I'm in an editing mode.
Stuff I lust after:
A red ebonite Conway Stewart
An 18k nib pen that's pretty
Other members of the same Aurora family (primavera, sole, fuoco)
Something in the Visconti and/or Stipula lines. I'm drawn to the red Da Vinci, but others here haven't been that enthused. I like retractable nib FPs.

Nibmeisters are good to know, and no, I didn't know about them!
My husband is left-handed; one of these days I'd like him to try a fountain pen that actually works for the way he writes.

After buying a Montblanc Generations rollerball to celebrate getting into grad school (in creative writing) in 2001, I found myself more interested in pens. I wound up on alt.collecting.pens-pencils, where several people suggested trying fountain pens. Not having a lot of money at the time, I bought some of the clear rubber Yafas (which I liked), a Lamy (which I loathed), and gradually worked up to the
harder drugs more expensive pens.
I hadn't bought a new pen in a couple of years until buying the Stipula Saturno and Pelikan M405 this week.

Welcome from a lefty! I use all fountain pens without any problem at all. Since there is no such thing as a fp for lefties, your husband should have no trouble using any pen currently in your collection. The Aurora Mini Fuoco is one of my favorites.

Welcome to FPN!

Certain left-handed writers do find that one of the specialty nibs work better for them. For example, some lefties who write from under the line of text prefer an oblique nib to get the pen into the right position and angle.
If you have the chance to go to one, a pen show is a great way to try out a bunch of unusual nibs in a short time.

I like the Aurora line a bunch, so it'd be nice to have the Mare's siblings in the house.

Catch is: how do I find a local pen show? (San Francisco Bay Area)
There seem to be four big ones a year, and the one in LA is a weekend I'm already double booked for.

Welcome to FPN, Deirdre!
You've come to the right place. No 12-step programs here. We're all addicted and proud of it.
Have fun!

That's a great stable of pens...and I'm jealous of the '07 VP limited edition. I'm still hunting for mine, but specific serial numbers are tough to track down.
(Eh...who am I kidding? Between my better half and I, we've got three VPs...probably enough - at least until the Maranello Red one comes out in '08.)

I only got the Orange VP a couple of months ago. I keep thinking I should get another, but I think that's just OCD on my part.
