I love fountain pens. I've have one that I used for years until my daughter bought me a Sheaffer calligraphy set. I use the narrower of the tips (not sure of the correct verbage) for everyday use. I prefer it because it is wider than my old one. I'm not crazy about fine tip anything. Anyway.... my daughter was visiting from college and tried to take the pen that I was using to fill out Christmas cards. I threatened her life if she did, but decided that I would get her one for Christmas. Big mistake! I bought her a new one, a vintage one (do not know the manufacturer although it has Duraloy on the nib) for myself, and my dad recently told me that he has my grandmother's fountain pen and that I can have it.

I've got the bug. I'm ready for another!!!!

Actually, I am going to figure out how to use my new-old one first. My others use cartridges, the new one has a lever on the side. I haven't got my hands on my nanny's yet.

The only thing I really know about pens is how to write with them , but I would love to learn more.

Merlitt,

Welcome ... I haven't thought of China Springs in years. I'm sure it is a lot more developed that it was in the late 70's, the last time I went through there actually going to 'China Springs'.

I think you may be needing an Italics nib. The pen you may have been using sounds like the fine nib on a Sheaffers Calligraphy set. If I run across my set I'll be sure and save it for you.

Yeah, threatening the life of your daughter over a pen...that might be looked at strangely outside this forum, but we all know how you feel.

HA! Folks have ridiculed my self-proclaimed title, saying these things aren't like drugs. Yeah, right.

Well, you just wait 'til that shows up. You will have a whole new deeper connection to fountain pens.

Hey with that, you're ahead of most of us! This is a great place to learn.
