Yes, according to Richard Binder's website, he considers Pelikan EF nibs as specialty nibs that need modification before he sells them. I do have an EF Pelikan nib for my M150 and it does not scratch that much. I may have gotten a good one. However, it is not as super fine as I expected it to be. It's more like a fine
similar to my Esterbrook fine nib.

I did order a XF for an 800 (my old red stripe) and like everyone said it was scratchy and unpleasant, and took a lot of work to get to my liking.
