There has been an increase, lately, in the numbers of posts with queries concerning improving handwriting, practice, techniques etc.

I suggest that all interested, should take a look at this example of Italic Handwriting by Ann Finley.

In my opinion, this is a perfect example of how Italic Handwriting should look. Everything about it is quite beautiful - construction, spacing, slope etc. It's totally legible and flows across the page with no apparent effort and with an enviable assurance. Even the flourishing is tastefully done and adds character to the writing without ever overwhelming it.

This is exemplary handwriting and would, I'm sure, be an inspiration to all those hoping to improve.

That IS nice! Maybe more so when you take into account the fact that Ann is left handed. Really. Not kidding. Look here.

P.S. Caliken, you are so modest!

it's so beautiful, especially in the violet!
Doug, thanks for that additional link. I like her letter-by-letter instruction, with comments. Somehow I hadn't run across that thread before.

That's sort of the style I'm striving for.. minus all the flourishes. Beautiful example, I'll add that to my growing collection of inspirational images. biggrin.gif

Thanks, Caliken--and everyone for the kind words. I wasn't a quick learner. Years later when some of my students could do as well as I can after a ten week class, I was amazed!

Best, Ann
