Full Version: A Review of the Classic Pens LM1 Flame Red

PenHero
We had the good fortune to have the prototypes and then the first edition of the new Classic Pens LM1 Flame Red Limited Edition. This new model was introduced in November, 2007. It's based on the new full-size Classic Pens Legend 766 fountain pen and is made using a brilliant flame red diffusion bonded acrylic. It's a fine daily user pen and very competitively priced. The Legend will also serve as the base pen for many upcoming exciting Maki-E designs from Classic Pens, such as the Windows pen shown a few posts below.

You can read the full review at the link below. Also look for a detailed article on how the pen came to be, including how the prototyping process worked and early versions of the pen.

Now, if only this pen were available in blue, without all of the (IMHO) silly stars and planets. That would be a lovely pen indeed. Best,
David

I agree. And blue is my favourite colour, so I make a point of looking at all the blue pens I can find.

That "new logo" on the nib looks suspiciously like an "old" air force badge. wink.gif

The new logo compliments, and was part of the same inspiration as the clip design. If you look at the clip tip, it has two diamond facets at the tip, which join at the center. This element of the clip tip forms the new Classic logo. If you look at the clip tip and the logo, you can see it.

The clip itself was inspired by the top mounted clip of the Soennecken 111 Superior, a very highly collectible German pen from the 1950s. So while there may be some coincidental similarity to a US Air Force emblem, it is purely coincidence.
