Recently got back stateside to the St Louis area and have just discovered the joys of penmanship through my children (10 and 5) and ran across this website. Enjoying the time it takes to write letters has always been special to my family (Navy

) and we lost a bit through all the techie "stuff" available. Now that they can both print/write this site has provided me with a new hobby (yeah, it got me!) and a wealth of information. Currently "just" own a PilotCross VP and two Lamy Safaris but I think that will expand soon and am looking for all the advice I can get. Thank you!

can't wait to get home to play with my pens ehm... kid!

I've also recently rediscovered the joys of putting ink to paper after decades punching a keyboard. I've got a couple new pens, a Safari and a Parker Sonnet, but the best pens I have are a couple of Parker "51" Aerometrics from the 1960's. Both my daughter and I agree they are head and shoulders above the rest in terms of ease of use, flow, line and style. But I also love the old Esterbrook "J" fountain pen and "dip-less" ink-well pen; I feel like an old-time mover and shaker when I write with my "407" dip-less pen.

Welcome to FPN. If you're looking for advice, stop now and put aside enough money for the kids' educations before you indulge the fountain pen fiend!
