Full Version: Can you help me and fix this Parker pen ?

This is the first time I post a question on the "Repair Q&A".

I have a Parker VP that has a problem.
Obviously the problem is with the filler.
It has 2 problems.

1.The metal part of the filler is loose and every time try to take the whole filler out of the section it will stay in the hand and the rest of the filler will remain in the section.

2.Problem 2 is probably harder.I can easily fill the filler with ink but once inserted in the pen there is no ink flow.
I saw there is no black tube in the filler (the rest of my VP's have the tube) so I sent the pen to my pen tech and he put one in the filler but it didnt make any different and there is still no ink flow.I also saw the tube is loose inside the filler so maybe that is the problem.
I sent the pen back to my pen tech but after few weeks of ties he gave up and told me he cant do anything with this.

So is there anyone that can fix these 2 problems and get the pen to work ?

SMG is in Canada, pretty sure he could get it going for you, given you have sent it away before. As far as I am aware, there is nothing too untoward about these pens.

Have you taken the nib out of the pen and given it a good soak or even better a 5 minute plunge into an ultrasonic cleaner? There is probably old dried ink lodged under the nib that is causing the ink flow problem.

No I didnt do that.
As I said my pen tech had the pen for few weeks and tried everything he could and I am sure he tried that too.
As for SMG,he is a good friend of mine and he already told me he cant do much with this if my pen tech couldnt either (they know each other well). The VP has design issues that can make this pen sometimes hard to use.

Sean is great and I would recommend him to anyone living on "the other side" of the border....
I know that when I can't get it done, I generally contact Ron Zorn or Richard Binder...
Ron has been able to get stuff done that I did not think possible....
You might want to contact him and see if he can do something with this pen....

Hi Tom

Thank for your input.I already contacted Ron Z and he will not take this project, its too risky for him.

The VP fillers are rather fragile - and without seeing it one can't say whether or not it can be repaired. I haven't tried to take one apart because it is rather risky to do so. It's always good to know one's limitations. thumbup.gif

It may be that something is missing. I just don't want to take my good one apart to find out what.

All of you Guys (and Gals if there are any hereabouts) ROCK!!!!!

Thanks for the props, I appreciate it.

I looked at this one a while ago and honestly it had me baffled. As Amir's other pen tech could not get it going, I was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to either. It looks like there is a missing piece in this pen.

I would love to see it working again, but I think that it may take another filler to do so.

Cheers and many many thanks.

Is your pen tech by any chance Fred Krinke? I think he has been doing repairs longer than just about anyone alive. Might give him a try if you haven't yet.
